As you can see, we have a lot of kids! What we DON’T have is a lot of money!
One of the things that we’re dedicated to, through The Edventure Project and Uncommon Childhood, is inspiring people to dream big, to work hard, get creative and find solutions to LIVE THEIR DREAMS!
This trip is a DREAM for Lois & Jenn and the kids. It’s a dream that we’re going to make happen, one way or another. But, we’ve set a few goals for ourselves:
It’s Going To Happen This Year
We’re taking this trip. September 1st we’re loading the bus and hitting the road. We’ll be gone at least a month. It’s going to be a WILD RIDE!
The Kids Are Going To Make It Happen
Our families are big into hard work and team work. From the time a two year old can carry a trash can or collect eggs, she’s a contributing member of the household and a valued member of the team.
We’re not “giving” our kids this trip, they’re going to work, and work hard, to earn it.
How? They’re going to:
- Stack wood
- Babysit
- Dogsit
- Rake & do yard clean ups
- Sell stuff
- Write stuff
- Create mini-documentaries
And keep their eyes peeled for pennies in the Wal-mart parking lots!
We’re Going To Include As Many Other Families As Possible
The reason we’re creating a website is because we want to take you with us. It’s cool to cross the country with our own kids, it’s even COOLER to share the experience with kids everywhere!
Through this site you’ll be able to read our stories, watch us plan, help determine our route, join us in person and even become one of the privileged few who get to join us ON the trip!
How can you be involved?

sounds like quite a wonderful adventure…hope you get in touch with us when you get across the country to sunny, warm AZ!
Sharon, we definitely will! We’re staying with your kids one night in Phoenix and hope we’ll get to see you!
Hi Lois & Jenn,
I’m the Camp Host at Hilgard Junction – rather I was. Sherry (who was in Atlanta) and I are now in Dinuba, CA at Gleanings for the Hungry. Gleanings processes food and gives it to the poor of our country as well as ships simi-truck containers to third world countries.
I would like to know where you are in your route/trip. I enjoyed you so much I would have liked to know more about your adventure, especially since we raised 8 children (4 B and 4 G). Also, I have a very nice picture of you all that I would like to email to you.
Blessings
Ray McNeal
Thanks so much for e-mailing us Ray! We are in Las Vegas, visiting Hoover Dam today and then heading toward Grand Canyon! We remember you well. Hannah has been playing the music you gave her and we are all enjoying that! You can e-mail us the picture at jenn@themamabus.com and we’d LOVE to have it!
